A Foodly Affair

As a lucky blogger invited along to the POBM I was the lucky recipient of some incredible goody bags. One of the delights included was a sample of raw chocolate pastilles from A Foodly Affair in the delicious flavours of bee pollen, cherry, goji berry and cacao nib. Containing all raw, fair trade, organic ingredients, soy free, gluten and dairy free. A guilt free decadence.

Europe Trip 2011 – Day 1

I flew out to London on the 2nd of August using Air Asia, not the airline I would have preferred but I was travelling in peak season, flights were pricey so this was the cheapest way I could make it happen. I flew from Perth to Kuala Lumpur where I stopped over for a few hours. We were stranded at the LCC Airport which is pretty basic (it’s basically a shed) and there isn’t a lot there to occupy your time – shopping wise.

The most uncomfortable seats in the world, my meal which wasn’t very nice unfortunately – not even sure what it was, some sort of chicken in pastry.

We then boarded the next flight to London Stansted Airport – this flight was excruciatingly boring, the seats on Air Asia are very uncomfortable for long haul and there were long periods of light turbulence where they kept us strapped into our seats and my back would start to ache when I couldn’t get up and move around. I also didn’t like how the crew would dim the cabin and make it pitch black then make it really bright an hour later to go through with food/drinks/giftshop items. It makes it difficult to cope with jetlag if the airline isn’t preparing you for the timezone you are entering.

Once I landed into Stansted my best friend was lovely enough to meet me at the airport. She cheekily suggested a drink for the train ride, I was tired and hungry but I still managed a cider. One train ride, a tube ride then a DLR ride later we then walked to her boyfriend’s house where I would be staying for my first few days in London. It’s in Wapping which is a lovely and quiet area of London. I start to understand why so many people backpack when traveling to London because you have to go up and down so many stairs, I got exhausted carrying my suitcase up and down and have a very sore wrist.

After a much needed shower and dinner I went right to sleep. My best friend’s dad had made us curry for dinner, which I really shouldn’t eat with my ceramic braces but I was starving and I didn’t think the curry would stain them too bad. This was the worst idea ever because I ended up with fluoro yellow teeth! I purchased whitening toothpaste the next day but this just made my teeth whiter and the fluoro more pronounced! It took about four or five days to get that yellow out.

How to Look Good While Travelling – Tips for Frequent Flyers

Quite often when we hop on a plane to take a vacation we don’t need to worry too much about how we look on the flight, as long as we feel comfortable there is no need to look glamorous. But what if you are going to an important business meeting or interstate job interview straight from the airport? Here are some tips to keep you looking fresh throughout the flight:

  • Try to avoid wearing makeup in-flight, instead use a good hydrating moisturiser and moisturise throughout the flight. If you simply must wear makeup go for a moisturising foundation to prevent skin from drying out and spray a facial mist to keep skin fresh.
  • Lip balm is a must to keep lips smooth and moisturised, I’m a huge fan of Badger Balm lip balms.
  • Use hand cream and moisturise your hands and elbows frequently. I love The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector but if you want something that smells really nice go for the Neutrogena Deep Moisture Hand Cream.
  • Your hair can also become incredibly dry from frequent travelling, make sure you use a leave in conditioning treatment regularly to keep hair in tip top shape. I make sure to do this at least once a week and I love theMacadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the flight. We all know that we should drink two litres a day but did you know that any water you drink while flying does not count towards your intake? Make sure you match what you drank in the air once you get on the ground otherwise you may end up with a headache as well as dry skin.
  • When drinking water don’t chug it down quickly or you’ll end up with a swollen and bloated tummy. Take small sips regularly.
  • Avoid alcohol and salty snacks, these can only dehydrate you further.

Test shots with new Nikon D3000

I have been saving up to purchase a DSLR for so long and this week I finally went out and got the Nikon D3000! I am a complete and utter beginner when it comes to photography but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and learn about. Here’s a couple of my first shots:

I’ve had quite a busy week at work so haven’t had too much to learn my way around the camera yet but will try and take some lovely shots when I go to Melbourne this weekend.
