As a lucky blogger invited along to the POBM I was the lucky recipient of some incredible goody bags. One of the delights included was a sample of raw chocolate pastilles from A Foodly Affair in the delicious flavours of bee pollen, cherry, goji berry and cacao nib. Containing all raw, fair trade, organic ingredients, soy free, gluten and dairy free. A guilt free decadence.

I flew out to London on the 2nd of August using Air Asia, not the airline I would have preferred but I was travelling in peak season, flights were pricey so this was the cheapest way I could make it happen. I flew from Perth to Kuala Lumpur where I stopped over for a few hours. We were stranded at the LCC Airport which is pretty basic (it’s basically a shed) and there isn’t a lot there to occupy your time – shopping wise.
The most uncomfortable seats in the world, my meal which wasn’t very nice unfortunately – not even sure what it was, some sort of chicken in pastry.
We then boarded the next flight to London Stansted Airport – this flight was excruciatingly boring, the seats on Air Asia are very uncomfortable for long haul and there were long periods of light turbulence where they kept us strapped into our seats and my back would start to ache when I couldn’t get up and move around. I also didn’t like how the crew would dim the cabin and make it pitch black then make it really bright an hour later to go through with food/drinks/giftshop items. It makes it difficult to cope with jetlag if the airline isn’t preparing you for the timezone you are entering.
Once I landed into Stansted my best friend was lovely enough to meet me at the airport. She cheekily suggested a drink for the train ride, I was tired and hungry but I still managed a cider. One train ride, a tube ride then a DLR ride later we then walked to her boyfriend’s house where I would be staying for my first few days in London. It’s in Wapping which is a lovely and quiet area of London. I start to understand why so many people backpack when traveling to London because you have to go up and down so many stairs, I got exhausted carrying my suitcase up and down and have a very sore wrist.
After a much needed shower and dinner I went right to sleep. My best friend’s dad had made us curry for dinner, which I really shouldn’t eat with my ceramic braces but I was starving and I didn’t think the curry would stain them too bad. This was the worst idea ever because I ended up with fluoro yellow teeth! I purchased whitening toothpaste the next day but this just made my teeth whiter and the fluoro more pronounced! It took about four or five days to get that yellow out.
Quite often when we hop on a plane to take a vacation we don’t need to worry too much about how we look on the flight, as long as we feel comfortable there is no need to look glamorous. But what if you are going to an important business meeting or interstate job interview straight from the airport? Here are some tips to keep you looking fresh throughout the flight:
I have been saving up to purchase a DSLR for so long and this week I finally went out and got the Nikon D3000! I am a complete and utter beginner when it comes to photography but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and learn about. Here’s a couple of my first shots:
I’ve had quite a busy week at work so haven’t had too much to learn my way around the camera yet but will try and take some lovely shots when I go to Melbourne this weekend.

Found this cute cross body bag for $2. I got the Fleur De Lys pin whilst in New Orleans and it goes so well with the gold hardware on the bag.
When I made the move to Posterous my Washington Monument post was deleted so here are some pics:
I love that I can upload several pictures at one time with Posterous so my posts will probably be a lot more picture heavy from now on!
Got up early to do the final part of the road trip into New York. Managed to find the hire car place after taking a few wrong turns, thank god New York has such a self explanatory system of roads. We then got a taxi to our hotel, the New York Helmsley.
Some of the popular culture exhibits were amazing:
I had to line up for so long to get close to the ruby slippers but it was amazing and definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.
