You may remember my many, many posts on the Australia Beauty Bloggers Weekend which I flew to Sydney to participate in last year. This year ABBW will not be running however the lovely Sara-May of Makeup Utopia took it upon herself to organise an event in the same vein – Beauty Bloggers Utopia 2012. I’m really excited to be one the lucky attendees and it’s really nice that I’m only having to fly from Melbourne this year. Last year I flew across from Perth for the event and it made it very exhausting and I was also a last minute addition since I was on the waitlist so I didn’t have long to plan for the trip at all!

In preparation for IMATS which I’ll be attending on the first day of the event I’ve started throwing together my wishlist:

  • Makeup Forever HD Foundation – I’ve been wanting to try this foundation for a long time and last year the Makeup Forever stand was so crazy I couldn’t get near it so this year I’m going to be more assertive and get what I want!
  • Royal and Langnickel Taklon Detail Liner Brush – Bought one last year and it’s the best eyeliner brush I’ve ever used and from memory it cost $4 or something ridiculously cheap so this year I’m going to pick up a few more.
  • Inglot Palette – I picked up a 10 palette last year and I’m thinking of getting another one since I love the quality of the Inglot shadows.

I can’t really think of much else to buy from IMATS but I’m thinking about enrolling in a makeup artist course at the start of next year and wondering if I should start building a kit as IMATS will be the cheaper way to go to get myself started although I really wouldn’t know what I’d need to start off with. If you have any ideas on what I should pick up from IMATS I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Me too Sara-May, getting very excited and I’m glad the event will be smaller this year so I get to spend more time getting to know everyone.

Most courses provide you with a good intro kit if you are thinking of doing a course, but by far the most important thing to have in a kit are various foundation shades. I plan on using IMATS to add to mine!
Also, I have an Inglot palette with 5 smokey eye kind of colours and 5 neautrals for brides and natural looks and I use them SO much, grab one!
Will see you there, can’t wait!

Thanks so much for the tips Lizzy, a foundation kit is a really good idea actually since I have so many eyeshadows and colour cosmetics I probably just need to look at the basics. Can’t wait to meet you there!
