I haven’t posted a Face of the Day in a long time and so when I was heading out on the weekend I decided to have a little bit of fun with my makeup and snap a few photos of  how it turned out. My favourite part of the look was the lipstick I received in my most recent beauty blog swap, the brand is Isadora and the shade is Heather. I had never been familiar with this brand before but this lipstick is such a “me” colour and just the type of thing I always go for.

I really wanted to do a dark green smoky eye and used a green Inglot shade which I believe is Pearl 433 if I’ve labelled my palette correctly however I then decided to darken it with the shade Coal from my Stila Backstage Eyeshadow however the Stila shadow was more of a blue/green/turquoise colour than I was expecting so the whole look ended up being more blue than I wanted but I was still pleased with the results and it’s fun to brighten things up every now and again.

Products used:

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in No. 11 – I have a love/relationship with this foundation, sometimes I love it sometimes it doesn’t seem to work for me. I’ve found that a less is more approach is best with this and I seem to get best results if I use my fingers to apply it.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in Medium – I’ve loved this product for years although sometimes I feel that it can be a bit cakey if you accidentally go overboard with it.

Illamasqua Powder Foundation – The number has worn off on this so I have no idea what shade I’m wearing. I love this product but I tend to just use it quite sparingly down my nose and on my forehead to prevent shine.

Illamasqua Cream Blush in Rude – I feel like this didn’t go on very pigmented it looks quite light, this is one of the few Illamasqua products that I feel I can probably go a little bit heavier with the application.

Korres Zea Mays Blush in Peach – After applying Rude and feeling I needed more colour on my cheeks I applied this Peach blush from Korres. It is not all that pigmented really and so even with this layered over Rude it still looks quite subtle.

Inglot Eyeshadow in Pearl 433 with Stila Coal layered over the top

Inglot Eyeshadow in Matte 342 – This is a soft matte brown that I used blend out the greens and deepen the crease. This is probably a similar shade to Soft Brown by MAC.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero – Not much more I can say about this eyeliner except that it goes on nice and black and works great on the waterline, it will smudge though so I only wear it if I’m going for a smokey, smudged effect with my eye makeup.

*Clinique High Impact Mascara – I haven’t got around to reviewing this yet but I’m quite impressed with it so far, it’s the type of mascara that needs a building up of several coats in order to get the best possible volume and length out of your lashes.

Isadora Lipstick in Heather – The most beautiful rose, berry shade. I received this in a Beauty Blog Swap recently and have been so impressed with it.

That evening I ended up at Naked for Satan a vodka bar in Fitzroy, they have a great concept where all of these little finger snacks called “Pintxos” are displayed across the bar, you grab a plate and help yourself then pay for it all later on. They also have waiters coming around and offering a variety of pintxos. I had been there before but not on such a busy night and it was great to just sit and try cocktails while nibbling on the delicious fare.

Thanks so much, I love hats – kind of obsessed with them but they’re perfect to keep the rain off my hair in Melbourne and keep the frizzies away!
