I was recently invited to try a very unusual skin care product made from 100% Natural Konjac Vegetable Plant Root extracted from the plant Amophphallus. In Japan the Konjac sponge has been used for over a century as a beauty treatment, it gently cleanses and soothes skin while removing dirt and oil.

When you first remove the sponge it is quite soft and squishy, you have to rinse it before use allowing the sponge to absorb the water. It’s up to you whether you want to use a cleanser with it, I chose to use it au naturel with plain old water. You then use the sponge in circular motions, rinse it out then hang it out to dry. Once it has dried out it becomes quite shrivelled and dry, it also hardens a fair bit however running it under water re-activates it and will get it soft again. This feels amazing on your skin and helps get rid of those pesky dry patches on my face. I love that after cleansing with this my skin doesn’t feel dehydrated or tight as can happen so often when using normal cleansers.

This is great product for those with sensitive skin types and is a nice alternative to the standard muslin cloth for cleansing.

RRP $8AUD and available from the Kuu Konjac Website, it also comes in varieties for different skin types as well as an option for baby.

  1. Ooh I really like this idea as I have the odd dry patches of skin that I would love to smooth out.
How often can you use it?

You can use this as often as you like, it really is so gentle. I mainly just use it whenever I wash my face in the shower.
