BB Creams have started to find a Western market after being hugely popular in Asia for a very long time. I only ever found out about BB creams when I started reading beauty blogs and have been very curious to try them out. When Garnier released its own version the Miracle Skin Perfector many bloggers were running giveaways, so of course I entered every single one I could but to no avail I didn’t win one! So when I came across the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector on display in front of the checkout at Priceline marked at only $10.49 I thought I’d pick one up to see how it went. They come in two shades Light and Medium, I bought the Medium one.

The Claims: Discover the BB Cream secret – a new generation of skincare that combines the best of skincare with the benefits of make-up in one application! New Miracle Skin Perfector has a lightweight formula with vitamin C and mineral pigments to deliver long-lasting hydrating care with SPF15 UV filters and a light touch of make-up for instantly visible, radiant results. Quickly & perfectly it unifies, corrects, brightens, moisturises & protects!

I have never used BB Cream before so I really did not know what to expect but I was slightly disappointed with this when I first used it however it started to really grow on my after using it a few times. The texture and scent is lovely, very much like a foundation. When I applied it to my skin it gives an extremely sheer coverage so I had to use a concealer over my under-eye circles before I could leave the house for a bit of extra coverage. I did notice that this gives my skin a slight glow, not shimmer so much as a brightening effect and pressed powder on T-zone is essential to stop myself from looking shiny. It did feel nice and light on my skin and it just gave me a lovely, fresh, radiant complexion.

Here is a before with no makeup at all (scary!) and after shot of the product, as you can see it gives a light coverage that evens my skin tone and brightens my complexion.

This is a great product for summer when I’m looking for something very light during the day as it has sunscreen and gives my skin a nice brightening effect. I’m glad that I’ve only paid $10.49 for it as that is a very reasonable price and would be perfect for people with younger, fresher skin that don’t need a lot of coverage. It’s obvious that Garnier are really pushing this product as the first BB Cream in Australia and I think the marketing has been very clever, blog giveaways and an extremely low price point make it a very attractive purchase so even if you dislike it you won’t regret purchasing it.

Not long after I wrote my review I read Valerie’s Review of this product and according to her this isn’t a true BB Cream based on her expertise! I’ve decided to get my hands on the Biotherm BB Cream that Kimmi Reviewed on her blog so that I could get more of a feel for what a real BB Cream is like and I’ll review it later on down the track. Overall  I am happy with the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector and will continue to use it, I seem to like it more and more every time I use it and I hope I feel the same way about the Biotherm BB Cream once I’ve tried it.

I really like this stuff! I use it as part of my regular routine now especially on good skin days. It just gives you a nice base and adds some colour to my very pale face haha

It’s so great but I definitely save it for when my skin is having a good day and I don’t feel like I need the coverage of a foundation. This would make a great primer as well I think but I haven’t tried using it like that yet.

    Hello Megan,
As an acne reviewer I was pleased to read in your post that this product has SPF15 UV filters as this has a beneficial effect on those spots, pimples or acne. These filters won’t cure acne but they won’t aggrevate it either.

I agree with Valerie! I don’t think this *BB Cream* is really a BB Cream. I’ve only realised this a few days ago (after so many times using it lol) since a typical BB cream (according the Western market) is supposed to be a primer, foundation, concealer, sunscreen and skincare (whitening, brightening, anti-aging, etc) product! Boo!

I still kinda like it though.. A bit. Maybe haha! Thank you for the review! ^_^ Please let us know how the Biotherm BB Cream is going too!

  4. Sounds like you had a much better experience with it than I did! As soon as I step outside and start sweating it instantly slides off in a weird milky mess :(

I haven’t had that happen to me but we have a very dry heat here in Perth, mine sweats off around my nose where my sunnies are but every single product does that!
