Linnaeus Cosmetics was a vegan cosmetics company that I discovered late at night on Etsy, after finding many favourable reviews I decided to take the plunge and order some products from Marin the lovely creator of this brand. Since I ordered these Marin has moved to her own website which you will find at http://linnaeuscosmetics.com/

Skittering – Emerald Tree Skink Inspired Loose Eye Shadow – Vegan $5.00 USD
Gemsbok Collection – Loose Eye Shadow – Vegan $12.00
This was a set of three eyeshadows in the colours – Tough Stuff, Kalahari and Fabled.

Shipping was $4.50USD so my total order came to $21.50

Each of the full size jars had clear plastic seal around them which I thought was great for hygiene as well as preventing the lids to come loose in transit. I’ve noticed that a lot of these loose eyeshadow pots I’ve received have very loose lids so it’s nice to see them being made extra secure.

Skittering – A deep jade green with some gold shimmer. This was darker than I was expecting it to be but I’m in love with this green. I tend not to wear coloured eyeshadows that often but when I do I will tend to go for gorgeous deep green colours like this.
Tough Stuff – This is described on the website as a very dark shimmery grey however to me it looks like a gorgeous dark purple.
Kalahari – I’ve been using this colour frequently as it’s a gorgeous everyday neutral with a lovely shimmer that’s not too over the top or glittery.
Fabled – This was quite a pale and frosty blue grey, I’m not altogether sure I can pull this colour off but I can see it being a very striking highlight colour on paler skin tones. I’ll still have a play with it though and you can be sure I’ll post pictures of me trying it out!

All of the eyeshadows are inspired by wildlife and Marin actually studies veterinary science and wildlife conservation so it is a passion of hers.

I placed the order on the 12th of June and was not aware that Marin was having a 20% off sale, she was kind enough to e-mail me to tell me about it and offered to refund my order so I could place the order again using the coupon code or four free samples which would equal the $4 I would’ve saved. Rather than re-do the order I just asked for the free samples. The colours I chose were Twiggy, Bombastico, Escape and Show off.

Because Marin was so overloaded with orders from her sale she was not able to ship my order until the 19th of June, because of the delay in shipping Marin included some extra samples. The freebie samples that Marin included were Hold Fast, Flutter and Lanky. The delay did not bother me as Marin kept me well informed and apologised for it with personalised e-mails. I received the order on the 12th of July and the parcel had been opened and checked by quarantine so I believe that must have delayed the parcel further.

Do you think they inspected my parcel because of the Linnaeus Cosmetics branding? Kind of lazy inspecting if you ask me “We better check this one since it has pictures of animals on it.” as if people smuggling animal products would be this obvious!

All my samples lined up: Twiggy, Bombastico, Escape, Show Off, Lanky, Flutter and Holdfast. I will swatch and review these at a later date. I absolutely love this company, Marin creates such gorgeous colours and is an absolute pleasure, she always kept in contact with me through out the whole process which really means a lot. I have no issue with sellers sending items a little late as long as I’m kept informed. I’ll definitely be ordering more products from her in the future.

I’m loving tough stuff and kalahari, such complex colours that go great for everyday wear. Looking forward to swatches of the sample baggies soon!
